James Stephen, 'Patchwork', EP review

James Stephen, a musician from Stockport whose work leans towards a mixture of folk and rock, recently released his latest EP, 'patchwork'. Last week, I was lucky enough to see him perform some of the tracks off it at The Manchester Academy. Not only do these songs sound beautiful as acoustics, but they are absolutely fantastic with an electric guitar and a bit of a heavier beat behind it!

Each song has it's own individual sound that kept the EP bursting with feeling and passion throughout, making it better with every listen. Stephen has a clear and powerful voice that flows from your speakers, creating this brilliant atmosphere that is engraved into your mind. With the softer songs like 'Hide and Seek', his melodic voice went hand in hand with the pleasant and serene playing of his band. I also felt that 'Let Me Put My Faith In You' had strong beat that emanated through the song, getting you up, dancing and singing along.

Overall, I adored this EP from the start! Every track was wonderfully played with skill and dedication. It's clear James Stephen and his band are doing well and will only continue to do so- I can't wait to hear what they have next to offer!
